托福聽力測驗 -真題 (4-２)
這篇托福聽力內容比較困難一點，提及到的有三個關鍵事項： Monticello、Thomas Jefferson　和Palladio's principles，但是內容主要是關於Thomas Jefferson這位美國第三任總統，因此在涉獵托福的相關知識，美國本身的歷史不可忽略，因為托福的考試內容主要還是在美國當地大學或研究所可能會上課的內容為基本內容。

托福獨立寫作基本上都是沒有絕對的答案，而沒有絕對的答案則是需要許多的理由或例子去強化作者觀點的可信度，言之有物就是如此而來，而不是空泛的結論。

不少人很容易發生雖然認識托福閱讀考試中文章內的單字，但是還是無法找出正確答案的情況，原因可能有(1) 一個單字往往可能有多種涵義在，因為理解的不夠全面，加上托福用字比較艱深，更容易發生認知錯誤的情況；(2) 長難句的結構理解錯誤；(3) 沒有理解全篇文章作者要引申的主旨。

讀懂托福文章很重要，但是真正要加快做答速度的另外一個關鍵是依據題目的內容快速將選項中不相關的答案先刪除，減少思考判斷的時間。

Paragraph 1: The deserts, which already occupy approximately a fourth of the Earth’s land surface, have in recent decades been increasing at an alarming pace. The expansion of desertlike conditions into areas where they did not previously exists is called desertification. It has been estimated that an additional one-Fourth of the Earth’s land surface is threatened by this process.
