托福高分作文欣賞(26)
托福獨立寫作基本上都是沒有絕對的答案,而沒有絕對的答案則是需要許多的理由或例子去強化作者觀點的可信度,言之有物就是如此而來,而不是空泛的結論。
Independent Weiting: Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? High schools should allow students to study the courses that students want to study. Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.
第一篇範文
I think high school students should be allowed to choose some of the subjects they study. However, the basic subjects, like mathematics, literature, and science, should be mandatory for all students.
When I was in high school, we were allowed to choose three electives each semester. Electives were subjects that weren’t part of the basic curriculum. They included things like music, journalism, art, and various kinds of team sports. Choosing some of these subjects to study gave me a chance to experiment. I was able to get a head start on what I was going to study in college.
However, college preparation shouldn’t be the main factor. I think all students should be allowed to take a certain number of courses just because they’re interested in them. For many students, high school is the last chance to learn about things they’re interested in. Maybe once they have a job there won’t be time for studying.
Of course, it’s also important that students study certain basic subjects. If I’d had a choice, I know I wouldn’t have studied mathematics or science. I wasn’t very interested in them. However, once I was in class, I found myself getting interested. I wouldn’t have known this if I’d been given the choice, because I would have chosen not to take the courses.
High school students aren’t always the best judges of what they’ll find useful in the years ahead. They need the guidance of experts in the field of education. However, they also need some freedom to follow their curiosity and individual interests. They should be given the freedom to choose some courses, while being required to take others.
第二篇範文
Some may hold the opinion that students should take classes that interest them. However, others have a different perspective. As far as I am concerned, I disagree with the idea that high schools should not require students to study subjects schools choose for them.
I am of the opinion that students will converge to only popular subjects and narrow their horizons if schools allow them to take whatever courses they want to take. It is natural that people want to take classes they are interested in. However, this can spoil the opportunities for them to experience new points of view that they could gain from subjects that were not so attractive at first. In my school, on the last year, we were able to choose some classes from the list of courses from arts to science. Since the majority of students in my high school are with arts background and reluctant to takes scientific courses that would help students understand more about science, almost all students chose one popular art introduction courses. As a result, they experienced difficulties dealing with a few mandatory science courses that they had to take later.
Another reason why I think the above statement is valid is that universities usually require students to learn various subjects in their applications. Universities are one of the significant steps for students to prepare for their future career. Recently, it has become more difficult to get a stable job for people even if they have university degrees. Some even argue that university degrees are sort of given because a lot of people enter universities than ever before. However, in order to get into an appropriate university, they have to study not only the subjects they are good at but also other various courses. If high school gave students rights to choose courses that students want to study, it would jeopardize the chance of being accepted from their dream universities.
To sum up, allowing students to study only what they want can cause a lot of effects related to their eye sights and university and even future careers. Taing all of these factors into account, it can be seen that schools should not allow students to select subjects they want to study.
